Jawan Mullen, Jr.
As a team member at Mark C. Cogan, P.C., Jawan Mullen, Jr. is dedicated to serving clients throughout the State of Oregon.
A Rose City native, Jawan has deep roots in the Portland area. He graduated from David Douglas High School in 2010, where he lettered in Football and was a prominent writer for the school’s award-winning newspaper The Highlander. He graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 2015, where he was heavily involved in campus as a member of student government. While in law school, Jawan clerked at Metropolitan Public Defender, was a member of the Lewis and Clark Moot Court competition team, and a 2019 Lezak Legacy Fellow. He earned his J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School in 2020. While in college, he was initiated into Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated in 2014, where he learned the value of service and advocacy. He implements these ideals every day in his work as a zealous advocate for the law firm’s clients.
Jawan began his work at Mark C. Cogan, P.C. as a Certified Law Clerk in January of 2020. Prior to that, he was a Certified Law Clerk at the Multnomah County District Attorney’s office from 2019 to 2020. While there, he gained meaningful experience in many facets of criminal prosecution, including conducting his own bench and jury trials on behalf of the State of Oregon. Having worked on both sides of criminal law, Jawan has a unique point of view in understanding the thought process of a Deputy District Attorney as they prosecute a criminal case from charge to trial. An avid sports fan, Jawan approaches every client’s case with a coordinated game plan, working hard to compete and get the best result for each case.
Jawan is dedicated to the Portland community. His involvement in organizations span across the areas of education, local politics, homelessness, and the law, particularly criminal justice reform. When not in the office, he spends his time enjoying the beauty the state has to offer with his family, friends, and children.
